Pressure Test Results

We’ve pressure tested the Contour Elite Breeze mattress with different body sizes and sleeping positions to see what kind of support and comfort you can expect. (Learn how we test.) The Contour Elite Breeze rated “Recommend” for 5 out of 6 measurements, and still rated Good on the 6th (had less leg support than we’d like to see.) This mattress distributes body weight very well for all body types, both on the back and side. This helps provide your body contouring support and minimizes pressure points that can cause you to change position and interrupt your sleep. The peak pressures were generally low and the charts show minimal high pressure red spots. The average pressures were also in the best ranges.

The cover is made with what TempurPedic calls Performance Fabric that’s breathable, light weight and most importantly infused with cooling material that’s cool to the touch.

B. Comfort Layer

The Supreme Breeze has conforming TEMPUR-HD material infused with PureCool material. This is a key Breeze feature drawing excess heat out and keeping the bed cool.

C. Support Layer

The support layer is formulated from TEMPUR material called TEMPUR-Climate; another Breeze feature to help spread your weight across the mattress and also help pull away heat.

More about Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic created the memory foam mattress category here in the U.S. Founded in 1992, they continually grew until they became a household name and large enough to buy the Sealy Mattress Company. They’re now a public company called Tempur-Sealy and sell mattresses worldwide.

There are 2 important points of differentiation vs other foam mattresses. First, Tempur-Pedic actually designs and manufactures their foam components and mattresses. This speaks to their degree of expertise (most foam mattress brands buy components from suppliers).

Secondly, Tempur-Pedic has always created premium products. As in any industry, there are companies that make cheaper priced, lower quality products, and those that make higher quality, higher priced products. Tempur-Pedic has always made higher quality mattresses using premium materials and manufacturing standards. The success of their mattresses, and long running reputation for quality, propelled their company to be the largest in the world.

Conclusion

The Contour Elite Breeze is a mattress that tested very well and is “Recommended” for most sleepers. For large, back sleepers, we rated it “good” even though it didn’t achieve the same top results. The excellent ratings were a surprise to us since this is a relatively hard bed and we’d have thought it would have some body pressure points due to the firmness. Yet it distributed weight very well which is an achievement – it’s both firm and very conforming. So if you like a very firm mattress, this one is firm and still supports your body in a manner that doesn’t cause sleep interrupting pressure points.
